Hope To The End Articles It’s never too late to read the Bible…God’s Holy Word ..the Scriptures. The Bible is the ONLYBook with the Words of Life. It is authored by the Holy Ghost, transcribed by men. A brand new year will soon be upon us—-a good time to commit ourselves to reading God’s Holy Word, the Bible, each day. An easy way to do this is to use a One-Year Bible which is already partitioned. Or one may choose to use his own Bible, reading each day; 2 Chapters from the Old Testament 1 Chapter from the New Testament 1 Psalm and 1 Chapter of Proverbs. Before you know it, you’ll have covered the entire Bible in a year (repeating Psalms and Proverbs of course, but they’re worth repeating). If your schedule gets crowded and hectic, just catch up on Sundays. But stay with the commitment no matter what. The Blue Letter Bible http://www.blueletterbible.org is an excellent way to get started. Before you go “webbing” for the day, just log on to 2 Old Testament Chapters. Then do your “webbing”, and before signing off, access 1 New Testament Chapter. At the end of each day, just access 1 Psalm and 1 Chapter of Proverbs. This will become such an easy habit to acquire, it will become the most enjoyable part of the day. First, Pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal the Scriptures To get more understanding out of the Scriptures, it’s always best to pray beforehand, asking for enlightenment from the Holy Spirit. James 1:5 The Holy Spirit is our TeacherJohn 14:26 He is our Revealer of Truth John 14:17 ; John 15:26 ; John 16:13 The Holy Spirit activates our Memory John 14:26 The Holy Spirit Comforts us through the Word John 14:16,26; 2 Corinthians1: 3,4 Isaiah 40:1; Isaiah 41:10,13; Isaiah 43:1,2; And He reveals Prophecy John 16:13 (Why not read the Book of Revelation– the Apocalypse– each Sunday? Pastor David Guzik http://www.enduringword.com/commentaries/66.htm Enduring Word http://www.enduringword.com/library_commentaries.htm And most of all, the Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus Christ [ John 16:14 ]. “Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Neither let the mighty man glory in his might, Let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, That he understandeth and knoweth Me…” Jeremiah 9: 23,24 WHY NOT BEGIN TODAY ? Perpetual Bible Reading Schedule http://rejoicing.com/bread.html Now January 1 does not necessarily constitute the beginning of a year. ANY date of ANY month can be a starting point [just like birthdays and anniversaries]. Just begin and persevere for 12 months. Keep on keeping on, no matter what. If you only get one line in a day, better than none. If days pass without the Word, sometimes its best to let those passages go, and just pick up where the new day’s readings begin. Satan will try to make this a burden. Prudence will dictate your own way and your own pace. Just keep in mind that:” 7 days without the Word, makes one weak”! Do whatever works for you. but stay the task. You may prefer to read straight through, setting aside a certain time each day. If that’s what works for you, then do that. Or you may want to use the Daily Reading Guide already printed in your Bible. Just hang in there at all costs, because the Tempter will try to way-lay this program in every way possible. Persevere…” Resist Satan and he will flee.” James 4:7 As you progress, you’ll want to investigate Concordances, and Bible Study Books. All are available on the Internet, and many are downloadable. Get rich with God. “Buy of Me Gold, tried in the fire” Revelation/Apocalypse 3:18. Drown yourself in His Word. “I will pour water upon him that is thirsty; I will pour floods upon the dry ground.” Isaiah 44:3″Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters; ye that hath no money; come ye, buy and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.” Isaiah 55:1 “Let your soul delight itself in fatness” Isaiah 55:2 See also Ezekiel Chapter 47:1-5 and Psalm 42:”As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after Thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the Living God.” LET’S GET BUSY Here are some good resources that help a person to study the Bible : Blueletter Bible* …free downloadable Bible Search on your own website!(Scroll) Torrey’s New Topical Text, Easton’s Bible Dictionary, Hitchcock’s Dictionary of Bible Names, Matthew Henry’s Bible Commentary, Nave’s Topical Bible, Josephus etc. BLB Study Tools http://www.blueletterbible.org/study/ Biblical Studies Foundation [other Bibles] http://net.bible.org World Wide Study Bible inexhaustible resources http://www.ccel.org/wwsb The Unbound Bible http://unbound.biola.edu Study Light http://www.studylight.org/ The SWORD PROJECT http://www.crosswire.org/sword/index.jsp Definition of Greek and Hebrew Words: http://www.searchgodsword.org/lex/ JEWISH OLD and NEW TESTAMENT ONLINE http://www.biblestudytools.com/cjb/ ARABIC AUDIO BIBLE http://www.thegrace.com/ Lambert Dolphin’s Bible Library http://www.ldolphin.org/asstbib.shtml for Prophecy: The Antichrist by A W Pinkhttp://biblebelievers.com/Pink/antichrist01.htm (note arrows at bottom of page for More ) [Audio-Bible:] Through the Bible (McGee) … http://www.ttb.org …..also in foreign languages. That’s what Paul the Apostle did. His marvelous testimony is in Galatians Chapter One, verses 12-24 to Chapter Two, verses 1 and 2…”For I neither received it [the Gospel] of man, neither was I taught it, But By The Revelation of Jesus Christ” Galatians 1:12. Let’s just make sure we’re listening to the Holy Spirit, and not ourselves, or the Confuser ( Satan, the ‘angel of light’… 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 ). How can we tell if we’re listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit ? By comparing Scripture with Scripture.”These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the Word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:11 We too must be as noble and as investigative as the Bereans. When reading, it’s best not to get bogged down by nit-picking side issues. Keep the focus on Jesus. Try to see Him in every Chapter of every book:” Search the Scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me” John 5:39(Jesus spoke these words when there was only an Old Testament.) Some passages are difficult to understand, and it helps to see what someone else has to say on that passage. But it is unwise to put all our eggs in one basket. In other words, no one person has a corner on Truth, so be sure to access many teachers, but choose only One…the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth. We’ve all lived long enough to see the understandings of man (ourselves) fail. Let’s all bear that in mind. OUR DAILY ENERGY ( BREAD ) ; John Chapter 6 We need God’s Word stored in our hearts to activate His Holy Spirit in these Last Days. “If ye abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” John 15:7;Proverbs 4:4 God’s Word heals. Psalm 107:20 and Psalm 119:25 God’s Word comforts Psalm 119:82 and gives hope Psalm 119:43; Romans 15:4 His Holy Word purifies Psalm 119:9;John 15:3 and cleanses Ephesians 5:26 God’s Word nourishes Deuteronomy 8:3;Ps.119:103; Jeremiah 15:16; John 6; and I Peter 2:2 His Word gives Light, wisdom and understanding Psalm 119:105; Psalm 119:30; Psalm 19:8 God’s Word imparts zeal Jeremiah 5:14 andpower Romans 1:16 His Holy Word helps our decision-making, sets our priorities, and gives motivation. Hebrews 4:12 God’s Word is Truth. John 17:17 Reading the Word keeps us in the love of GodJude 21 God’s prophetic Word helps us to understand the future. Ezekiel 12:25″Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My Words shall not pass away” Matthew 25:35; Mark 13:31 and Luke 21:33 And finally we are commanded to teach God’s Word, the Bible, to our children: Deuteronomy 4:10;Deut.11:19; 2 Chronicles 17:9; Nehemiah 8:13; Isaiah 2:3; Matthew 19:14; Mark 10:14 and Luke 18:16. You can readily see from the above that Psalm 119 highly exalts God’s Word (“word” being interchangeable with “law”, “statutes”, “commandments” etc.) To neglect God’s Holy Word greatly imperils us…see Hosea Chapter 4, especially verse 6: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” and verse 14: “the people that doth not understand shall fall.” The greatest hindrances to Bible reading are procrastination and ‘busy-ness’. Both are remedied by re-prioritizing our day. Another entrapment is to think that since we’ve already read the Bible, we can relax and let up. Nothing could be further from the truth. It’s that attitude that causes backsliding and dimness of view. I Samuel 3:1-3 What you don’t use, you lose. You will eventually forget the fullness and weight of God’s Holy Word. Just keep that flame forever burning in your heart no matter what… causing it to grow brighter and brighter as the Bridegroom proceeds our way. Matthew 25:7…. “Return Thou”… 2 Samuel 19:10-14. Continual re-reading of the Bible brings new and fresh insights each time. Some passages appear as if for the first time, even though we’ve been there before… such are “the times of refreshing”. Acts 3:19 PSALMS and PROVERBS PLAN Testimony of Pastor David Pryor : ” I, too, greatly lean on the Psalms. In fact, for years now I have made a habit of reading 5 Psalms and 1 chapter of Proverbs first thing each morning before my prayer time. This has been of tremendous blessing to me. The reading schedule I use is based on the day of the month. For example, the chapter of Proverbs I read is the same as the day of the month ( Chapter 1 on the 1st, etc. ). For Psalms, I start out reading the Psalm that matches the day of the month ( Chapter 1 on the 1st, etc.), and then add 30 to get the second reading, and then 30 more for the next, and so on. In this way, on the first of each month I read Psalm 1, 31, 61, 91, & 121. On the 30th I will read Psalm 30, 60, 90, 120, & 150. I skip Psalm 119 when it comes up in this schedule, and read it instead on the 31st. ” What David describes above is a very good way to get fed with the Word. You can try that method, or you may prefer to read 5 Psalms a day in their order, and just continue the cycle. Whatever way you choose, stick to the path and stay in God’s Word. It will keep you close to God. THE NIGHT COMETH John 9:4 and Amos 8:11-13 Anyone with a discerning spirit can readily see that the freedoms of Christianity are being eroded daily. We dare not take for granted Born-again Christian-Internet, Christian-radio, tapes, TV programs, or even electricity in the days ahead. On that account, we should depend upon actualBibles rather than electronic Bibles. And if the discrimination and persecution intensifies, it may become illegal to possess an Authorized King James Version of the Bible. The politically correct versions will remain. We must be prepared to store our treasure within: “Thy Word have I hid in mine heart” Psalm 119:11 . THE CRIMSON TIDE The Lord has given many lives for us, Isaiah 43:4b in order that we may have His Holy Word. The Old Testament prophets such as Isaiah and Zechariah were murdered for standing for God and His Word. Our Lord died, verifying the Word of God. The crimson tide of history speaks of martyrs willing to give their lives, so that this generation might still have the benefit of Truth found in God’s Holy Word. They gave their all. Maybe we could give of our time and read about them in Fox’s Book of Martyrs… http://www.ccel.org/f/foxe/martyrs/home.html http://www.ccel.org/f/foxe/martyrs The lives of John Wycliffe , John ( Jan ) Hus , William Tyndale and Martin Luther etc. should be familiar to us all. Many of our forefathers sealed with their own blood the following statement: “I am a creature of a day, passing through life as an arrow through the air. A few moments hence, I am no more seen–I drop into eternity. I want to know one thing…the way to Heaven. God has given us a way, written in the Good Book, the Bible. O give me that Book!! At any price, give me the Book of God!!! ” John Wesley “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.” — sung by Johnny Cash ; Familiar Hymn “He took the time to bleed; let’s take the time to read”. Modern Christian Song THE BIBLE IS GOD-AUTHORED Holy Ghost inspired Why is the Bible far superior to the Koran and to all the other basic books of other false faiths ? PROPHECY ! No other book in all of history predicted so many events with 100 % accuracy ! No other book. No other book. No other book. The odds of this occurring are unfathomable. It is this testimony which gives the Bible its authority for TRUTH. We can safely put our trust in the prophecies yet to be fulfilled by Jesus Christ, the Son of God, because of His impeccable record of having already fulfilled hundreds of prophecies unprecedented in ALL of history. “THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS IS THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY. Revelation 19:10 http://www.yeshuatyisrael.com/moshiach.htm “Think about this…. the statistical probability of predicting one event is one chance in two. Either the event will happen or it will not. When you add one more prediction, the person would have a one in four chance of being right on both predictions. The statistical odds against someone predicting 50 events and being 100% correct on all 50 is 1 to 1,125,899,906,842,624. That is a One quadrillion, 125 trillion, 899 billion, 906 million, 842 thousand, 642 to 1against some one making 50 predictions and all of them coming true. Notice what I am saying here, not 50 out of hundreds but 50 out of 50! That is nothing short of a miracle. ” http://www.christianarsenal.com/Christian_Arsenal/AP_MessProph.html The ONLY Bible with correct Bible prophecy is the Authorized King James Version No matter the cost, we recommend getting a KJV Bible for correct Truth. All other Bibles are paraphrases and leave out the word ” blood” as much as possible. ( “blood” , as in redemption) The mob says ,” Everyman has his price” . Well our price was not paid in gold or silver. We are blood-bought. The Just One purchased the unjust with His own precious blood. NIV Bible eliminates a most important verse… NIV omits Rev. 22: 18, 19 http://www.hopeofisrael.net/2011/articles/must_read/300_changes.html Rev. 22: 18 and 19 tells us not to add or subtract words from the Bible. There will be consequences. Both the NIV and the “New KJV” ( NKJV) say the mark is “on” the right hand” and not “in” the right hand. The Authorized KJV Bible has had “in” the right hand for hundreds of years before the newer versions came into existence and changed all that. Is the Mark of the Beast IN the hand ? hopetotheend.com/in.html Yes. The newer versions also say “it” instead of “he ” when referring to the beast antichrist in Rev. 13 and Rev. 14. Antichrist is definitely a person, as referred to by our Lord Jesus Christ in John 5:43 Jesus fulfilled all the Messianic Prophecies of the Old Testament http://www.yeshuatyisrael.com/moshiach.htm Why Study Prophecy ? http://www.jeremiahproject.com/prophecy/proph2.html Trusting the Biblehttp://www.brandonweb.com History of the Bible In the beginning, there were only the Hebrew scrolls of the Old Testament, written from Moses to Malachi. ( Parts of Daniel were written in Chaldee, the Babylonian language ). Then around 300 – 200 years before Jesus ( BC ), 70 Jewish scholars translated the Hebrew Old Testament into Greek at Alexandria, Egypt. http://www.septuagint.net/ Next, the Apostles wrote the New Testament Gospels and Epistles in Koine Greek ( the Greek language spoken by the common man, and not that of the scholar.) They chose this language so that the common man would know and understand all Scripture. This clearly shows how the New Testament teaches the priesthood of the individual, with the Holy Spirit as our supreme Guide into all spiritual matters. (Truth ). These Apostles were not of any established religion, but were Born-Again. They were originally Orthodox Jew, but when Born-Again, they became Messianic—-believing in Jesus as Lord and Savior. Then in the 4th Century AD, Jerome, a Catholic monk, translated the Greek and Hebrew Old Testament manuscripts and also the Greek New Testament into the Latin language. It is known as the Latin -Vulgate. It was the Bible of the Roman Church. It was not understood by the common people of his times, for most of the known world in his day spoke Greek… Latin was a dying language. http://elvis.rowan.edu/~kilroy/JEK/09/30.html http://www.drbo.org/lvb/ Meanwhile ( 600 AD to 1300 AD ) http://www.bible-researcher.com/anglosaxon.html Late 1300’s AD… Just before the dawn of the Reformation … John Wycliffe– also called “The Morning Star” of the Reformation –was the first to translate the Latin Bible into English. He insisted that the common man should have access to the Bible in his own language (1324-1384 AD ). The Bibles that he and his followers hand-copied were the forerunner of more Scriptures yet to come. He died in 1384. Because of his love for the Scriptures, and his love for the common man; and also for his opposition to the papal abuse of authority, Wycliffe’s bones were exhumed, burned and tossed into the River in 1424 AD. ( 40 years after his death). The Powers that be wanted to strike mortal fear into the heart of anyone who would so dare to make the Scriptures understandable by the common man. Wycliffe’s writings greatly influenced John Hus of Prague, Czech. who translated the Scriptures into the Bohemian language. John Hus also was burned at the stake for making the Scriptures readable to the layman. Both of these men influenced Martin Luther of Germany, whose wrote and PUBLISHED in German, with the invention of the printing press. http://www.epc.org.au/literature/bb/wycliffe.html and http://www.island-of-freedom.com/WYCLIFFE.HTM Jan Hus (John Hus) Priest and Martyr –Czechoslovakia http://justus.anglican.org/resources/bio/7.html andhttp://www.biblecentre.org/truthtestimony/2001/aeb_jan_huss.htm Johann Gutenberg, ( Germany) inventor of the printing press (for publishing Bibles) b. 1397 http://fecha.org/gutenbergbio.html and http://www.uh.edu/engines/epi753.htm In 1515, the great scholar, Erasmus, translated Jerome’s Roman Latin Bible into the Greek language with great understanding and interpretation of Greek , along with notes written in Latin that produced The Textus Receptus — the source from which the King James Bible surfaced in common English. Erasmus wanted a Bible independent of Rome, although Erasmus remained a Catholic to the end. http://www.dtl.org/versions/article/origen.htm Martin Luther translated an EDITED Bible into German Unfortunately he designated Hebrews, James, Jude and Revelation as “Apocrypha” ( non-Canonical ). Does this give rise to the OSAS heresy ? [“Once Saved, Always Saved “] . God strictly forbade the omitting of any of His words from the Bible —- Rev. 22:19 http://www.execulink.com/~wblank/luther.htm and http://www.reformation.org/luther.html Luther also believed in replacement theology…that the Church replaced Israel as the recipient of all of God’s favor . Omitting the Book of Revelation must have also meant that Luther was a preterist–one who believed that all prophecies had already been fulfilled. * Dawn of the English Bible * William Tyndale’s English-translation ( from Erasmus’ Greek Bible ) laid the foundation for the Authorized KJV 1611. Tyndale was martyred ( both burned at the stake and strangled ) in 1536 outside Brussels, Belgium, for making Scriptures readable to the layman. Tyndale strongly believed that the common man should have his own copy of the Bible ( meaning : He strongly believed in the Priesthood of the common believer …. the layman; the “plowman” ) All throughout the history of the Bible , the focus and main intent of those commissioned by God was to translate the Bible into the common language of the layman … to make the Scriptures easily understood by all persons. This of course broke the yoke of the authoritarian religious system. http://www.gospelcom.net/chi/GLIMPSEF/Glimpses/glmps059.shtml and http://www3.sympatico.ca/gary.thompson/faithpages/tyndale.htm (Jesus Himself was a LIVING edition of the Scriptures Who came to also break the yoke of the Religious System ( please see Matthew 23 ). If it were not for Anne Boleyn, ( Henry’s second wife ) King Henry the 8th would never have sanctioned the Tyndale Bible (Henry was not concerned with Bibles; Anne was.) In fact the ONLY remaining copy of the original version of the Tyndale Bible is from the royal palace, which Anne Bolelyn kept and studied. With great dignity, Anne went to her beheading with respect for the law, forgiveness for King Henry the 8th, and with total submission to the Lord Jesus Christ ! Is she not counted among the saints and martyrs ?
