>How Blogs can Explode your Online Business

>

They’re popping up everywhere. Your favorite website has one. Your favorite television show has one. Even your teenager has one. Blogs. What are they? Why are they everywhere you look? Should you consider creating one to complement your online business?

Most simply put, blogs are like journals?€”only, instead of being made of the paper and cardboard kept secret by an even thinner piece of cardboard and a lock your baby brother frequently opened with a paperclip, these journals are online. Why does it seem like everyone has one? Well, because almost everyone does. And there’s good reason. Blogs can be used as journals, both private and public; they can be used as ways for fans to discuss the latest episode of their favorite sitcom; or, they can be used by major companies, especially those that are Internet-based, because unlike the traditional forms of advertising, blogs bring in more traffic.

For business purposes, there are many ways companies use blogs. For example, a company may have several blogs on its website, each one dedicated to something different: customer concerns, product updates, etc. In addition to being helpful to customers and other website visitors, these blogs bring in more traffic to the website, as well. Depending on the website, more traffic usually means more money. And more money means?€”that’s right?€”you’re on your way to that summer home in the Hamptons!

So, how exactly do blogs bring in more traffic? Well, Adsense ads with Google are a good starting point. The search engine visits your page more each time your update, ultimately moving your blog higher and higher on the SERPs (Search Engine Results Page) and leading to more revenue from the ads being represented in your blog.

Some pointers? First, the blogger will need to decide what he or she is going to write about. Choose a popular topic, one that people are interested in. “Underwater Basket Weaving” probably wouldn’t be a very wise choice as not many people seem to be interested in it. Unless, of course, you’re business is underwater basket weaving, in which case you should by all means write about it.

Next, focus on some keywords?€”these are the words that search engines are going to pick up on. Don’t dowse your blog in these words, but use them whenever you effectively can, ideally at the top of your own posts either in the headline or first few paragraphs. Lastly, make sure you write content that will attract, and keep, a strong readership. You want your readers to keep coming back, right?

Also, ensure that you are adding valuable content related to your online business to your blog on a regular basis, at least once every two to three days. Everytime you update your blog make sure to ping your blog using a service like Pingomatic. Pinging your blog lets the blog directories know that you have just updated your blog. One reason why blogs are powerful is that the search engines love blog sites since they are constantly being updated with fresh new content.

Submit your blog to the blog search engines by simply doing a search for ?€?blog search engines’ in Google or Yahoo and then submitting your blog url to them. A great way to increase traffic to your blog is by visiting blogs in your niche of similar content and leaving useful comments regarding topics posted in those blogs. When you leave a comment, you are also allowed to leave your blog url so when others read your comment they can then go to your blog to find out more about you.

Last, but not least, you must have a passion for the topic you have chosen in your blog. Remember, other people are looking to get value from the information
on your blog so if you are not passionate about your blog’s topic then it will show in the quality of the information on your blog. You must love what you do
or at least learn to fall in love with it.

Go ahead, join the millions of people and businesses alike. Get yourself a blog. Or corner your boss and suggest writing one for your company. Explain how blogs bring in more traffic, more traffic means more money, and more money means?€”that’s right again!?€”you’re on your way to the Hamptons.

>Blogging Problems Which Every Blogger Has to Face

>

By Aakash Dutt

What in the world is up with the world of blogs? Blogs are meant to be this great new technology where people can share their ideas and interests with others around the globe. As far as I am concerned, the state of blogs is one of chaos, confusion, and anti-interactivity. The other day I decided to do some research on the Web and try to connect to some blog writers out there that interested me. Let me tell you it was not an enjoyable task as I had envisioned. I spent four painful hours surfing through around a thousand on-line journals, and I found only a few that interested me. What are we doing out there, people?

First, just getting to a blog can be a pain in the neck. For example, you type in the words ‘Philosophy blogs’ and a whole bunch of sites come up. Some are conglomerate sites with thousands of journals, but the area you are searching for may have only one blog in it!

This is because they separate the blogs into a million different categories, like love’, ‘lovers’, ‘lovable’ etc. Why not have just a few main categories to choose from?

The next problem is the content. People with ‘philosophical’ blogs are having personal chats with their mates about the local dance competition on Tuesday!

Why not go to a chat room if you just want to talk to your friends? Blogs are supposed to be a personal viewpoint expressed to the whole Web community. Would not you actually like to meet more people like yourself? How is this going to happen if you talk in strange uncommon slang and acronyms that only you and your friends can understand? Please stick to the subject at hand, and take it at least half seriously.

Another major problem is the fact that you can find a cool blog that sparks an interest, but then find that the writer has not added an entry in over a year! What is it doing on the Net? Have these people passed away? I seriously doubt it, as there are so many blogs in this ‘lost’ state. Having a blog is a responsibility; it is a shared diary for the whole community. How can someone form a relationship if you only write in your blog once a millennium?

Back to the subject of content: These on-line journals are a real chance to communicate regularly with others with similar views to yourself. We can learn a lot from each other, as each human is an individual with special traits and skills that only they have. So why do we see so many blogs just talking about trivial nonsense like ‘Who the coolest movie actor is.’ Humanity is an intelligent species evolving everyday towards a higher consciousness. So where are all the thinkers out there, the people who have taken us to the next levels of spirituality and scientific exploration? I would really like to hear what you have got to say, but all I can find are philosophical beliefs on why dyed pink jeans express one’s true inner self.

The issue of making comments on someone’s blog is also a controversial one. Why have comments sections if you are not going to reply to people who have expressed an interest in what you have had to say? How is this community going to function if all the conversation is one-way! Come on people, wake up and smell the coffee! Let us change the blogging community into the awesome structure of shared knowledge that it was intended for.

Please do not let it turn into the small-talk world of chat rooms.
